I didn't know where to post this. I'm interested in one of the 2011 club knives, if it is still possible to buy one.

Contact Miss Jan Cartar, she might know where there's one. She's probably working right now but she should be on line later today.

Thanks for the replies Robert and Steve.  I appreciate your help.

I would like info on club knives.  Are they a model selected from one of a number of manufacturers or a specific model designed as a "club knife" for this site?  I'd like to share a short story about a "forum knife" I'm aquainted with and the behavior of the members.

A forum knife was manufactured in only a very limited number and sold with a max purchase number of 2 per buyer.  Of course there were not enough knives for everyone who wanted to buy one and many lost out.  Several people bought 2 of them and since their purchase attempt was first they got theirs and others didn't even get one. Of course some  get 2 because they want one to use and one to keep in brand new condition for their collection.  I have been told that at least 3 of the people who got 2 knives did this to help people who didn't get one.  They are selling their second one to one of these people with no profit.  My understanding of their reason is when this type of thing happens some people will buy 2 with the intention of putting the second one (or both) on ebay or somewhere at a huge markup after they are all gone.  Now people who just wanted one can get one and not have to pay more than if they got one initially.  I think this is a great generosity especially since these people don't know each other personally.  Just through the forum.   Anyway, I thought this was a pretty cool thing to do.  Sometimes someone can't afford one today but in a week they can.  Now maybe they can get one.  The model was sold out in a matter of hours.

Back to the subject.  Info on where to learn about club knives is appreciated.

Every year iKnife Collector posts a blog or discussion, open to all members that can then post what they want as a community knife. The discussion stays open usually for several weeks, and then we select a knife usually based on recommendations. In the event of no clear winner, management picks the knife. We normally do a limited run, and normally we do sell out. We have used AG Russell, GEC and this year we are using a Custom Knifemaker Jeff Mutz. Our knives will be delivered in the fall. At the end of the year or start of 2014 we will begin discussion for our next knife!

Thanks Steve.

My list of folks that bought 2011 is at home.  If no one responds on here I will check it ans see if I see anyone that bought multiples and may be interested.  I am out of town for a sort time though.  Steve, thanks for explaining our process so well.  This year we did a very limited run and allowed just one pre order per person.  I do have a few more folks on the list in case one of them becomes available

So do you state when pre-orders start during the discussion?  I'll want to be looking at that to see what is picked.  I doubt if I"ll have much to suggest.  I don't think I have enough experience to decide what I'd want.  I'll need to try a few different models first.  Maybe I'll have tried a few after a few months.  Hope so.  You've got me thinking about it at least.

Jack

Oh yes there is ample opportunity to buy! However members need to check in frequently because on a limited run they go quicly!

Nah, can't state your intentions early enough lol

I'll try put a picture up of some of our club knives.

These were our last two years Club Knives. They have a little storage oil on their blades. I can't wait for the next one to come out.
