What a beautiful set you have there Ethan.

It is indeed from the 1970's and I well remember when Gerber offered them along with the plaque/holder, which is Walnut.  The various knives themselves have M-2 tool steel blades that are very hard and hold their edge extremely well.  The handles are cast aluminum, very comfortable and well designed.

I used to correspond with Al Mar when he was with Gerber and he was a gentleman of the first order.  Al was a Knife Designer for Gerber and did not actually make your knives, but they may very well be one of his designs.  Each of the various models of the 6 knives had names, but unfortunately I can no longer recall them all.

I hope this helps a bit.  You have a very nice set there and I hope you enjoy them all.  It is a part of Gerber history.

Do you have any idea of what a set like this is worth. It's in mint condition. Never used
And thank you so much for the info I can't find anything on these.

Sorry Ethan, but I do not have a guess as to the value of your set.  I can't remember what the set sold for new but I am sure it would be worth more than the original price today if it is in mint condition.

As more members view this discussion there is bound to be someone here with more knowledge than I.

Ethan,

I found a "similar" set on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Gerber-Legendary-Knife-Walnut-Holde...

While these knives are not quite like yours they are nonetheless, generally speaking, somewhat like yours. What I would do is follow this auction to its conclusion. The winning bid should give you a ballpark idea of what these older Gerber kitchen knives are worth?

Anyhow, I thought this auction might be helpful as a generalized comparison? Good luck, my friend!
