Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi. My grandson gave me this Case 1836 Bowie for Christmas.  Does anyone know how to date this knife?  Also, does anyone know where I can get a sheath for it (other than Ebay)?  Thank you!  Photo attached.

I’m having trouble finding the year on my tang stamp charts. I’m asking others though.

looks like a 1979 Case USA................one dot......

I understand why you say the 1979 due to the single dot, but I can’t find it listed with the long tail C above it on the academy dating charts for “fixed blades”

I’m still searching

Sent a picture to One of my contacts for confirmation. The knife was made from 73-80

truly outstanding Case XX bowie style knife made in Bradford Pa by the W.R. Case & Sons Co. This knife is HUGE! It is the Jim Bowie 1836 Bowie knife which is stamped on the tang as pictured. It has one dot which should make it a 1979 model. This knife has not been used carried or sharpened. It comes with the original leather sheath that has brass trim. The handles are crack free but t is an X on the back side of the one handle. This knife measures 14 1/4" overall with a 9 1/2" blade. You have to hold this knife to truly appreciate the feel and balance it has.
