Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I am retired and don't need a knive for any job related reasons.  I bought my first knive to help with  around the house chores.  I now have over 80  (Case, Buck, Kershaw, SOG, Schrade, Rough Rider) knives in my collection.  I have to recognize that my purchases are more to feed my collection instead of a needed EDC. Share your story are you simply in need of an EDC or are you a collector

A little bit of both. Mostly an EDC kind of guy. I find that if I don't use a knife it loses it's attraction and end up getting sold or given away in general.

Easy enough for you, James  LOL

Jay,  I'm retired also, but in my old job we couldn't carry a knife.  It was only after I retired that I started whittling, which caused me to accumulate a number of "spare" knives.

Now some of the "spares" are just too nice to use, so I guess they're a collection.

30 or so EDC's on the table.  500 knives or so in the safe.  Guess it is some of both but mostly collectors

I'm not retired yet and carry a older knife every day. I like carryin older and sometimes a tactical too. Just like the classic feel and finish that you just can't get in a new knife. Right now I'm carryin this Shapleigh DE jigbone Barlow/Jack. It's razor sharp and cuts everything I need it to. With full halfs and worn down bone,,,,PERFECT!

Mostly collector...have a boxful of EDC

I am mostly a collector.  Out of just about 100 knives that I own, no more than half a dozen have ever been used.

I'm mostly a collector but I collect old edc's to.

For me the need to have a knife for work related chores turned into the need to collect. It seems to work that way for me with almost anything I get into....guitars, motorcycles, tools, etc. I usually carry two knives. One slipjoint of some kind, either a really old one or a custom, and an Emerson when I'm at work. I like to have a one hand opener for work chores.

"Collection"....eh. More of an accumulation of knives. I definitely have some safe queens(30) and they account for 75% of the total value of my knives. The balance of 100 or so knives were rescues of older EDC's from eBay and antique stores. Those knives are carried when I get nostalgic for the old school.

You can have a "collection" of users too :)

"A group of objects or an amount of material accumulated in one location"

I am a hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, I have quite a few EDC knives. Some are fixed blades and some are folders. There are some worth alot and some on the less valuable side. I use knives alot in my endeavors but over the years, I have accumulated plenty of users. Now days, I may only buy one or two users in a year but in that same time frame, purchase anywhere from 6 to 20 knives for my collection or presents.
