Clint, the combination works pretty good.  I have fired it 13 times at deer and coyotes and put 11 deer and 2 coyotes on the ground at ranges from 25 to 125 yards  I put down a coyote this week at 75 yards with it.  Even though it is a single shot, with that butt stock shell carrier I can reload for a second shot almost as fast as a bolt action.  Of course so far I haven't needed a second shot.

BYW Clint, I notice you haven't entered the knife give away contest yet.  If you have a picture related to guns, shooting, or hunting or can take one, post it here to win a knife.

Well, at Walmart this afternoon I noticed that there was some pistol ammo on the shelves.  They weren't full by any means but there were several different pistol calibers available.  Also for the first time in a long time they had Remington 150 grain Core-Lokt in .30-06.  That is my deer/coyote load so I bought a box.  This is my deer/coyote rifle, a New England Firearms Handi Rifle in .30-06 topped with a Nikon 3-9x40 Buckmasters scope.

We now have nine entries in the Arsenal contest.  And a growing list of prizes.  I ordered a Rough Rider knife during Knives Live Friday night that will be one of the prizes.  I will post pics of it when it gets here.  A little over two weeks left in the contest.  Be sure and enter!

Our firearms season is Dec. 4 through Dec 15th.  One buck.  We have huge bucks here with a 250 pound one not too uncommon. There is a two day doe hunt in mid October for one doe.  Then in Jan for the first 14 days there is another doe hunt for one doe.  There are two more doe seasons the first part of next year but these are from year to year.  I have 31/2 months so I am in no hurry.

BTW Clint, I lived in Topeka for six years.  I helped build the Jeffrey Energy Center, that power plant that you can see on the far northern horizon as you are traveling I-70 west of Topeka.

Also if you get a good photo of your hunt or its results, post it here and you could win a knife.
