Folders has won the Pole. I figured as much because a lot more members collect folders than collect fixed blades. Thank everyone for participating, it was a lot of fun.

I vote Fixed Blade Knives... I've broken WAY too many folder blades working on my Bench. Have yet to break a fixed blade Knife while working. Even the Miniature Knives (all fixed blades) I make are more durable than any folder I've ever owned. It's no convenience to break a folders blade prying open a simple watch case... as a goldsmith/jeweler I use Fixed Blades exclusively to do my work. If I was just opening envelopes I might use a folder but for real WORK nothing beats a Fixed Blade Knife!

For me, it's folders. I have very few fixed blades only because unless you spend time afield a folder is more practical. I always carry 2 and on a rare occasion 3. It would raise lots of eyebrows in the office if I had a fixed blad hung from my belt. But an interesting pocket knife can be brought out without much concern. When I'm afield I carry a fixed blade at all times.

Yes, the vote continues to be folders. I hope more members vote, to help get a better idea of everyone's opinion.

Folders

I vote folder also. The fixed blades are usually too high.

Folders, hands down.

More complication and tighter tolerances demand the increased price over fixed blades.

Robert, I agree with you on the fixed blade bit. I've been carrying a fixed blade for the past two weeks and I'm loving it.

However because I make my own knives and I've gotten pretty decent at fixed blades, I tend to only spend money on folders since I don't build those myself.

I am pretty sure that in my collection the two knives that cost the most are both Buck 110's
