Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I found this knife in a free box on the side of the road a couple of weeks ago, and didn't realize what it was until I looked it up online. I just thought it would be a cool knife for in my tool box.

I have decided to try and restore it as best as I can. Here are some pics of it before any work, and after scrubbing rust off of the blade this morning.

I have a lot more work to do, but it's a begining....

Congratulations. Very nice knife. My experience is that it is more difficult to find than the Case 225Q. A good cleaning and you'll have a wonderful knife and a great piece of American military history.

Often, I am reminded that many great military knives may be purchased for substantially less than modern knives of lesser quality. Over the years, I have been tempted to put some of my collection knives to hard use, rather than to spend more cash on currently made knives. Most often I allow this desire to pass, unless the knife in question is in poor condition. I would not hesitate to restore your knife and use it for whatever tasks it may be suitable (and at the same time I would smile and imagine a GI opening an ammo crate or defending himself against an enemy combatant).

Love those military knives!

That  is something to be proud of.  It is fun to find something like a 10 inch kitchen knife needing sharpening cheap  at a flea market then turning it into something useable.
