Hi to all. Name is Steve And my Wife Wanita. We've been collecting knifes for quite some time. I've been on several other forums and do a bit of trading. I'm gonna stumble through this forum folks. Not quite shure what I'm doing yet. But glad to find some folks that like what we do.

Welcome aboard Rome, I love those old stories as well!! I mainly collect older Schrade's pre-2004, but like you if another brand catches my eye I'm a buying!! LOL I mainly buy the older anything USA knives, but do like those older German made ones. Again glad to see hear and thanks for sharing the story!

Been cleaning things up around the house, you know Spring cleaning and all, I found my very first pocket knife. It's a Case XX ten dot (1980). I remember my Dad telling me it was going to be the only knife he gave me, I'd have to buy any other knives I wanted. I was 8 years old. I remember him putting about 4 or 5 on the bed for me to choose from but this was the only one I picked up I don't even remember what the other ones were. I carried it with me everyday or had it in my car up until I left for college and I got it back when he died 15 years ago. I also know that I used to know everything there ever was about this knife and just about any other Case out there. Unfortunately those memories are gone and I want to learn again so that's why I'm here. I have a variety of knives, nothing earth shattering, but they are my collection and as I look at them they each touch a spot in my heart. Thanks for such a great welcoming.

Erika, I have several case Trappers in various ages. One thing sad thing about Case Knives is there are sellers at Knives shows, ebay and other places that sell counterfits. There are some without a dought fake and some are sometimes hard for the experinced to tell them apart from oringinals. There are quite a few older Case knives that sell from $100+ on up to the highest sold knife at a little over $14,000, so some guys will grind off Tang Stamps of a newer Knife that cost around $50 to $100 and re-tang Stamp of and older tang stamp thats on the high end collectables. So by re-stamping someone would be mislead into paying $400 to $5000 for a $50 to $100 knife. There are two sellers on ebay that are known to sell these type knives and many knife collectors have been using there knives to help educate the new collector. That is whats so great about this site because if your not sure just ask and these guys here will help you make the right decision.

Say my friend. Reading your post brought back some good memories. When i'm out looking for a blade I often find myself buying something familiar. Sometimes I look at a knife I just bought and think,I had one like it when I was 12. My first knife was a sur-snap yellow handle toothpick. Was my dads. Even remember what happen to it. lost it at our fishing hole. Wonder if its still there???

Well I'm sure its still there but not in very good condition. LOL My grandpa gave me his old wore out Imperial 3 blade pocket knife when I was around 8 yrs old. That was a little over 40 yrs ago. They main blade is broke and the other two blades are in the shape of a banana. LOL We would work all the calves several times a year and would cut knoches out of each ear (that was my job) and cut the bull calves goober to make them steer, because the steers brought more money. He sharpened it many many times.LOL But when they bought knives back then they were to be used and used until they broke or you didn't have enough blade to sharpen. I still have the knife and I was thinking about having it rehandled in stag, remove the blades, replace with a single blade and just making it a single blade folder with some file work. Now I just have to find a man for the job.

I wouldnt touch that old Imperial. Think of the stories that it can tell.
I wish I still had the old camp knife that I first had, broke blades and all...
