Hello SAK fan,
Actually my favorite SAKs are the different alox models. As an example of the colors I attach a pic of my farmers. Actually I have 4 colors.

See more colored alox pics in my album.

Do you also have alox SAKs, perhaps in other colors?
Please show me them.

Jim,

Like I said before, the prices on alox can vary greatly contingent upon differentiating factors. Certain colors generally command higher prices, especially within certain models. Then, take one of those colors with a limited colored shield variation and that price goes even higher. And we haven't even considered the different tool variants that have to be factored in to this discussion, yet.

My best suggestion would be for you to find a knife you like and then do some homework specific to that particular knife. Do a Google search to see what different stores are asking for that knife. Go on eBay and look for auctions with that knife and pay attention to the winning bid. In other words, shop around! But first you need to have a specific knife in mind.

Beyond what I've already suggested the only way that I can answer your question, since it really is too general to answer, is to say the following: For a Victorinox alox knife you can expect to pay anywhere between $5 and $500.

Shop around and compare prices.

Cheers!

Ron

Hello Ron, I see what you are saying.   I am interested in ALox becasue of the colors and look.  Which Alox it doesn't matter but which model tends to have the most colors?  Most of the alox with multiple colors I see at this second (with my week of looking) are the Classic and the Cadet; mostly the classic.  Does that observation hold true over time?

I guess what I was hoping for is some general guidlines.  For example: I have bought almost every limited edition Case stockman "new with box" over the last couple of months (except for 3).  I have paid (including shipping & tax) anwhere from $29 to $57 with the average being $44 dollars.

I have seen this knives new and used listed at prices sometimes up to double what I paid for them.  So what I am trying to avoid is being a new guy and paying too much up front.:)

Thanks,

Jim

Probably the last Alox special run (at least in such a small quantity) from Victorinox. Made end of 2013.
A Pioneer and a Solo in blue-orange with a Kingfisher printed on the backside scale. Numbered and limited to 100 pieces each.

More info and pic on my blog

They are both beautiful, Martin!

Great looking knives.   I see all of these stunning alox but where can one buy some of these lilmited edition ones?

JIm

Someone correct me if I am wrong:  My impression is that many if not all of these great colored alox knives are commisioned by someone or a company than sold is that correct?  If so can I contact Victorinox and say I want X number of knives in this color alox?   Am I on the right track?

Jim

They use to yes, but if I'm not mistaken they have stopped doing special orders.

Not everybody can order Alox knives from Victorinox. You need good contacts to them or be a officially seller. But still then you cannot order only 50 pieces. And as Anthony said, it's over now. Victorinox decided to stop such small special run orders from 2014 on. It seems as Swissbianco would be able to still order colored Alox in the future. We will see...

My search has begun for reasonable priced Alox knives (if that exist).   These are my results so far.  I love the colors but many knives are out of reach.

Lately Swissbianco ordered seven Marlinspike models in three colors from Victorinox. One of these is a new model. He calls it Castaway. It has two large blades. It's basically a First Mate with a blade instead of the bottle opener.

First Mate in gold

and the third color is red. Here the Pioneer 2223 called by +B Marine Soldier.

Those are amazing, Martin! I think that I would rather have the bottle opener instead of an extra master blade -- But that's just me. I do like the Castaway, nonetheless! Especially in blue with the red SAK logo!

I too like the Alox scales.  I have about five SAKs in Alox.  All but one are silver.  The odd one out is a Red Pioneer.

Here are my Pioneer, Farmer, and 84mm Cadet

Nice looking Tobias!
