Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Today is 4/20/2014, on 4/25/2014 I will be headed to Alaska on a mission trip with 10 other members of our church Lake Ridge Church in Eastlake,Ohio. I am going to chronicle my journey here for anyone who is interested in following along.

Keep in mind, I believe in God and will be talking a great deal about Him,and His Son Jesus. With that in mind, if you are a non believer, than this is probably not the thread for you. I do however encourage you to follow along, you never know, you just may find my journey interesting.I plan to post as many pictures as possible, and post my thoughts and feelings about this trip.

I will be stepping way out of my "comfort zone"(3933 miles to be exact),but I have heard it said "nothing changes in your comfort zone". I truly expect this trip to change my life for the better. Anyone reading this, feel free to ask questions, and I will do my best to answer them. However, if you are just going to bash my faith or my God, I will not even bother to banter back and forth trying to defend my beliefs to you.

Any and all prayers are greatly appriciated!! I pray, and hope you enjoy this read, and follow along!

God Bless You,

Thomas Bennett

Beautiful Alaska, great pics Thomas, thanks for sending them down.

The week was full of serving others, there was very little time spent "adventuring",but it was truly an adventure! We spent our time at a place called Pendlin Park, which the term park is used very loosely! It was more like a concrete slab about the size of a football field. It used to be where they kept dumpsters. We spent the first day cleaning it up so we could make a make shift park, where we set up a canopy to do crafts, feed lunches, sing songs, but ultimately share the gospel of Christ. I found that these children only wanted love. To be loved on.

Things you must do is "Make a friend,be a friend, then bring a friend to Christ". In a world where we consume so much, and give back so little,I found myself taken back by these children. Little ones who society has let fall by the wayside, didn't want anything but a little bit of your time. It wasn't about giving them "stuff"

Thanks for the updates Thomas. You all are doing a great work for The Lord. God Bless and I am praying for you daily.

I did however pick up a traditional native knife called an Ulu knife, pretty cool and sharp

That is a cool ulu Great with food prep.

I have seen these Ulu's but don't have one yet. Big Dipper Cutlery well I will have to check them out. Thanks Thomas!
