Basement find - Miller Bros Dirk gravity knife

Greetings. My first post. Been checking out the site for a while but just registered.

Was going through some boxes of my late great grandfather in the basement tonight and ran across this nifty little Miller Bros Dirk. Blade action could use some wok but still pretty neat.

Miller Bros were located in Meriden, CT and only existed 1872-1926.

Love the screws on the ebony scales (handles). You could find out more about it at the NCCA

which has a knife show in Massachusetts and in Connecticut. Bring it along and there are many collectors/dealers who have knowledge of the company.

Miller Bros are rare, simply because of the short timeframe of production and the time it was in. Back them a knife got bought to be used so most of them were. My honest opinion? Go to one of the shows, see some of the dealers there that know their stuff before offering it up. They may even know a collector you could contact

I understand the paring down, have done a little of it myself. Just make sure your on point with this one, it is not your everyday knife

You have what I would consider a rare collector's item.

While I've a few Miller Bros .. I've nothing as unique as this.

Don't clean it .. don't do anything to it.

Do do your homework on this one .. Really.

Don't think I'll be able to make it to any collector's shows anytime soon. Info on Miller's is really limited online. Can't find much more than what was posted in the Q&A forum. Any suggestions on who I might contact for more info on this one?

However .. do keep in mind.

Value is always dependent upon condition

... AND ...

what the buyer is willing to pay.

All that being said .. we just didn't want to see you selling it for $119.oo ..and.. thinking you did well.

This is a shot in the dark MW. We have a member that is actually not very active BUT he is a Miller Bros collector. Might be worth sending him an email and seeing if you can pick his brain a little. Harold Lincoln, just click on the name and under his pic it will say send a message. I dont know if he will answer but it might be worth a shot.
