Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hello , All!

This is my first time posting and I'm hoping for some help - our historical society recently received a donation of this knife to our collections and we don't have a backstory. The only info that the donor gave us is that he found it buried in Tennessee at an old Civil War site. I don't know if that relates to the knife at all, since I haven't been able to find many comparisons in my research, and I'm starting to wonder if this has any authenticity. Has anyone seen anything similar or have any ideas? Thanks so much for any help! I've been browsing other threads and this is a wonderful community.

Whoa how cool

Are there ANY markings of ANY kind ANYWHERE on the knife?

I'll have to dig through some books.....neat stuff!

It looks like an early 1900's Bolo knife - checkout >> http://www.quanonline.com/military/military_reference/fighting_kniv...

It is a model 1904 Hospital Corps knife. Made from 1904 to 1914. The blade has the date of manufacture on it. Mine is dated 1909.
