The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
Measures that may be brought in later in the year mean that although we will be able to buy knives online they will need to be collected from the retailer personally?
Now I haven't bought a knife from Greg at TSA for a while mostly because I have been spending my money on straight razors. Also, the £ has dropped 20% since Brexit was announced which makes purchases from the States just too expensive with shipping and taxes.
This proposed legislation, however, means that I would have to travel to Detroit Lakes, so that Greg could check that I am over 18, and pick up my purchases in person. That could make the next GEC rather too much trouble, I guess that is the point!

"In this case it was a small lock knife but the size doesn’t matter. The message is clear - there is no need to carry a knife in Nottinghamshire and they are not welcome in our communities.
No judgement here, people live as they wish too. I just think it is sad that in areas ,even here, the uses of this tool been forgotten
You are right Jan it is a great shame that people can only see knives as weapons.
It has been getting worse for a long time now.
I always had a pocket knife with me but now I have stopped carrying one unless, around the house, Jail doesn't appeal.
A lock knife is not legal to be carried no matter how long or how short the blade may be. I believe if you can show a good reason for carrying one you could be okay, I doubt that it would be possible to talk around your average policeman or Magistrates court..
ok John, we have had a few giggles and been outraged for you a time or two by the rulings they are making you all live by regarding knives. But I have to admit I got a great belly roll over a country other than our own deciding that an inanimate object is racist
We are rolling out our #KnifeFree chicken boxes in over 210 chicken shops in England and Wales, including Morley’s, Dixy Chicken and Chicken Cottage. They use real life stories to show people how they can go #KnifeFree.
Someone is actually up in arms about this. At first I thought GREAT, finally someone is going to stand up for the person that wants to be a responsible knife owner. NO! Apparently we are rubbing off on your folks, they are outraged because the chicken ad is racist'
I remember a row about this going on a little while ago Jan but didn't really follow it as it seemed too crazy to be bothered with. It is in line with our authorities fondness for putting knife surrender boxes in police stations for people to hand in their knives and get "knives off the streets". It is all too crazy for me to bother with. The guy who seriously thought that putting a message on a fried chicken box would stop "knife crime" is probably a couple of bricks short of a full load, or more likely just making money. The racist bit is, I think because these boxes are used in shops where black guys go. I could be wrong of course because I have little patience with my government these days. Apologies for saying "black guys" but I am unsure of the socially acceptable phrase these days, things change too fast!
John,
Like you, I cannot keep up with what is acceptable anylonger when discussing anyone except Donnie and I. I just call us a couple of old white southerners that dont demy anyone basic right. Seems like a mouthful when I just used to say WE ARE OLD!t
As for the racist part John, in our country something as insubstantial as a chair can be deemed racist, all for headlines

I guess when you get past a certain age things seem to get very complicated Jan.
You know I'd gladly send you a knife, John.
However, it'd likely get caught in customs & just bugger up your day.
Dale
I have no doubt about that fact Dale my friend.
At the moment I have more than sufficient knives for my uses. I tend to only carry a knife at home and in my shed for whittling, mostly Fallkniven or EnZo which I believe are now called Brisa.
I am afraid my heart has been carried away by straight razors and the collection of sharpening stones and apart from a little whittling I don't bother too much with my small knife collection.
I will be adding to my blog on razor sharpening in a few days as I have made considerable progress of late, he says only with mild embarrassment at my own presumption.
I do have a few broken knives, mostly Queen that I was thinking you may like to have to practice your repair skills on. You would be welcome to them as long as you don't send them back to me, I am not looking for repair service just thought you may like to play with them. Don't know if you would be able to do much with them as they are all broken back springs which must be a tricky problem. Anyway if you need a project just let me know.

John,
There is no issue having razors shipped in or are most of yours bought in the UK?
Jan,
I shipped John a straight razor some years ago. My local USPS guy gave me the 3rd degree about knives ..but.. gave over on the straight razor. It successfully made it to John.

I feel that to make things clear that the proposed legislation to ban online knife sales has not yet been passed in parliament. So for the moment, we are still okay to buy knives or razors online. The official wording of the proposed bill is, something like, "bladed implements" so that might catch a whole bunch of stuff like chisels and gardening tools etc. I should think that apart from the usual slowness of government that the Brexit shambles is holding things up. Then there was the talk of just banning online sales to under eighteens and tying that in with a desire to stop young people from accessing pornography. The idea seemed to be that you would go to a post office with your birth certificate to buy a number proving your age and then use that number to access pornography sites or buy online knives or, bladed implements. That would work well I think !!!!!!!!!
Any politician who is stupid enough to think that computer literate youngsters couldn't access anything they want to online is too stupid to do the job.
