Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I have recently had an interest in learning about the equipment needed for surviving in a Bug Out situation. In learning the proper tools and equipment to have, I have also started backpacking and tent camping some. More recently, I started having an interest in bushcraft. What I have found is, there are a lot of similar tools required in each of these, especially having a decent knife. I would love to hear what any of you think about the mix of these different activities. I am still learning and having fun as I do so. I got several items for Christmas that will be used in a combination of these activities. Here are the items I got.

Not putting the descriptions, was intentional. I figured I would get more questions that way. Which ones don't you know what they are?

What are the wooden handle scoop looking things? Also curious about the lightbulb things? Love the looks of that axe!

Don't let me stop you from replying, Jeremy, but to quickly answer John's questions:

The wooden handled scoop like things are the Mora Full Curve and Half Curve Carving Knives -- great for carving things like the bowls of spoons.

The lightbulb things are lights for tents and hammocks, but Jeremy you'll have to help out with the source on those...

And the axe is actually a Fiskars X25 splitting axe -- a widespread brand, meaning you could probably even find one at your local Home Depot.  It's basically a blend of an axe & a splitting maul.  I've never tried a splitting axe, but I hope to sometime soon!  Hm, maybe a trip to Home Depot is in order...  :)

Jeremy, what's the model of headlamp -- & am I right that it's a Thrunite?

And what's the maker of that stove?

I'm also really diggin that Bushcraft Grill set there.

Looks like you got a lot of gear to help make a fire & a meal -- after dark if necessary!  So cool.

And when you get around to using those carvers, I hope you'll post some of the things you've made!

Well …. I guess that covers that. Congrats on the nice gifts Jeremy.

Sounds like you didn't appreciate my response, John Kellogg, & for that I apologize.

No No Dead Left,

Don't take me wrong, I didn't mean to offend in any way.

Merry Christmas my friend!
Sincerely

Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond sooner, but DLK nailed them all. I already had one of the hook knives that I have used for carving many spoons. The one I already had, has a curve that is in between the two I just got. I have been wanting to carve smaller spoons, but needed a hook knife with a tighter curve and I am wanting to carve a few small bowls that would require a larger hook, to make it easier. Now I have all 3 sizes. Here are some spoons I have carved in the past. I will try to post pics of some I do in the future with the new knives. The light bulbs are battery powered, LED lights that my younger son and his girl friend got me. They use 3 - AAA batteries. As for the Fiskars splitting axe, I have a few other axes, of different sizes, but they are mainly for chopping, not splitting. I decided to add a splitting axe to my Christmas list so I could split the larger pieces of wood, when we are on longer camping trips or are burning larger pieces of wood.

The headlamp is a Thrunite. It is the TH10 V2, which is the Version 2 of the original TH10 (which was my first Thrunite head lamp). I really like the fact that the V2 can be charged through the micro USB port. It has a max output of 2100 lumens also, which is very bright.

The camp grills are something I have one of already (the larger one) and I really like it. I wanted to add a smaller one to my gear, because it can be used inside of one of the cook pots that I have to bake things over a fire. By turning the pot on it's side, you can place the small grill inside the pot and put a smaller pan inside. You can bake bread and similar things, using this method. I attached a picture to demonstrate how it works.
