Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi everyone and welcome to our newest members,

Something we have not talked about lately is new aquisitions.  Tell us about your latest and greatest GEC.  Donnie bought me both the new 23's in the Beavertail (Worlds greatest husband by the way)  He got himself the newest 73 in Primitive bone.  THAT is a heck of a nice knife.

What have you gotten lately?

I just received a couple of new GEC's soon to be favorites, a Northfield Yellow Rose smooth bone stockman #53 and a smooth Ivory bone  Tidoute #56. I have been drooling over Johnny's pics of his smooth bone #56 and saw that a dealer still had one for sale (at too high of a price though) and decided to jump on it. Now I can't decide whether to use it or the Yellow Rose #56 that I have. Wish they would've had two cause I wanted to give one to my son. I might have to break this one in a bit while thinking it over and making sure that he really wants one of these. He has a #56 in Primitive Bone that I gave him last year but can't bring himself to use it and I thought that this one would have made a good EDC for him even though it's a PPP. He has a Kershaw tactical folder as an EDC and I'm trying to convert him to a trad carrier.

here is what came today 23L

Robert when you get to the reply section just above where you type there are some icons.  The second icon on the left is" image".  Click on that. it brings you to "browse".  Click on that, it brings up your computer, choose where your picture is and when it says OK, click that.  It embeds the pic right here in the reply.  Cant wait to see the pics

Awesome knife Robert!!!

Thats a beauty for sure, the #23 and #73 are true stand by patterns.

Gotta love those fat scales on that #23 linerlock Robert! Great looking knife sir!

Now that's one handsome knife!  Thanks for sharing!

Nice, Robert.

Tom, your in a tough spot my friend!!

I think I might just get a different #56 and let him use that one, just kidding of course. The Tidioute I have is a very good folder, it's hard working and it doesn't mess around. I was helping a buddy build a shed one day and as luck would have it, I was one of two guys with a knife. My knife for that day was the tidioute Dogleg, it handled all of the cutting jobs, then came the roof. The other knife was a Buck Bantam, a knife a knife much bigger than mine, but it didn't seem to matter. My knife cut the shingles better and got the nod more often than the Buck. By the time I got it back the edge was trashed, lots of littler dings to the edge, I couldn't cut hot butter with this knife.

A knife without an edge is just a paper weight so I went to work with the Lansky. After a half hour or so I have one of my sharpest knives ever, the edge is nice and polished and all those dings got themselves straightened out. The knife is as solid as the day it left the factory and it doesn't know the meaning of play. Definitely a worker from Tidioute, it takes abuse like it's just another piece of paper.

Now, the Northfield is the one that gets all the looks. It's decked out like your Yellowrose, so I know you have all the extras so common with the Northfields. That knife takes a great edge too, it seems to handle just about everything thrown at it as well, but it doesn't get much tough stuff. It's just to pretty for that.

So, I love having a #56 for looks and one for work. Right now you have that as well, your beautiful Yellowrose that warms the hand like the morning sun and the Tidioute in ivory bone thats ready for anything. If you had another #56 that you wouldn't mind parting with, I might be going that route. I would pick it out and put it in my pocket, on Christmas morning when I handed it over to my son, I would make sure he knows it's no safe queen. Having a knife carried and used by a loved one beats one fresh from the tube every time.
