Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

It's a play on words but seriously I'm seeing a lot of orange knives out there. It seems as if the color once reserved for hunting vests, hats, coats and other assorted hunting paraphernalia has extended in kind of a big way to knives!

I mean who hasn't gotten really excited, just before hunting season by the site of a good camo knife. You see them in catalogs, on the web, and in your favorite sporting goods store. You know you've bought them. And so it goes, depending on hunting terrain, who hasn't dropped that same "camo" handled knife in a pile of leaves or other brush and in the excitement of the hunt said......uh oh.....where's my knife!?!

Well just wonderin your thoughts, do you like them? Do you have an orange handled knife in hand for a hunt?

How come you don't see many red knives?

Nope, I dont like 'em.  I am sure they have an appeal to some folks but I am not fond of them

I have an orange Sharpfinger. Here is an orange Kershaw Zing. And here is a green Sogzilla, and that's about it for my loud color knives. I didn't really buy them for the color, I  was able to get a good deal on them.

I agree with Miss Jan, I don't like orange handles. If it were a burnt orange with a little contrast, maybe.

I would think they have an appeal to hunters in particular purely because they would be easier to see if dropped, but to a collector something else might be much more appropriate.

Thanks Billy, I have seen that Sharpfinger and looks to be a good knife. I have not seen the Kershaw, thanks for showing that. I like that Sogzilla, looks like it walked right out of the forest!

Good looking knife James. On the local feral hog hunts here I have not seen an orange handled knife in action yet, but that would get the job done for sure.

Not going hunting with it, Steve, but I do have an orange Seahorse.

Not my favorite color either though.

Interesting Robert, and from a hunter too!  Well that's why I asked the question...it may not be the same for every hunter.

Not bad looking, but another no. Wonder why they make them? Somebody is liking them a lot...somewhere....

I didn't think of diving! I guess that would apply if you dropped it on the forest or ocean floor. Good point you make there James.

I don't really like orange either! But being a knife maker I use a little of everything. If its orange g-10 micarta you really can't even buff it or it gets all nasty looking. Only reason I have made a few with orange handles is it makes them easy to find for hunters when dropped on ground on accident! Orange is an excellent color for a divers knife also in my opinion, but thats about it. I agree with hog, stay away from orange if you are a serious collector!
