The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I'm just curious as to what your favorite handle material(s) and/or color is. There are many different types of materials which are used for or turned into hanldes to adorn knives. Some are durable while others are fragile. Some are subtle while others make a statement. Some are dyed-in-the-wool traditional yet others are newcomers setting their own mark. Please feel free to express your likes.
My favorites, not in preference, are:
1. Stag
2. Mastodon Ivory
3. Mother of Pearl
4. Brown jigged bone
5. Ram horn

Well, this may surprise absolutely no one:
I'm fickle about handle materials. I like them all. And it depends on the week, day, or hour as to what My favorite is. But I guess I'd have to say as my basic go to handle material............bone. I guess. Maybe.
With dyes and other types of pigment, colors and designs in handle materials is astonishing. A variable artist's pallete is available to spice up collections and variuos lines in a company's almost endless menu.

- Yellow Synthetic
- Wood(Any wood, ie Rosewood)
- Corelon
- Black Synthetic
- Bone (Red, blue, brown)
I'm with you Craig. What excites me on one knife may leave me totally flat on another. Time also plays a part. Sometimes a particular thing has to "grow" on you. All in all, it does make for great collections when there is some variety to some things.
