The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I like the Remington knives - but they are quite pricey. Even the year knives can get expensive. But they are fun to collect and I really enjoy the ones I have.
Show some pics of your Remingtons. Does anyone have the complete set of Year Knives?

Ron, I think it is suppose to be for fish rather than a "saw"- its called a Fisherman's Barlow Lockhand pattern 5" - whatever all that means. I should get it Saturday or Monday.
Ah, yes! That would make more sense, then. I had only seen pictures of one. And not very good ones at that. So, thanks for shining a light on my misconception. It seems so obvious, now!
I'm loving your pictures, btw!
Glad you like them Ron, I hope to somehow get the whole set on this site thru pics at least.
Robert, That Al Capone knife is sure a prize for anybodys collection. I am glad you have one, schroll down this site and see the 1992 Year Knife and it is a repro of your knife. Its nothing like having the real one like you have. Yes, I know what Al probably used his knife for. Its a real piece of history just having one like it. Can you post a picture on this site??
Ken, I have trouble with pictures, but I'll have it up soon. The knife, not Al Capone....lol
Great Robert, you are on the right site. Looking forward to the pic.
This is my vintage Bullet Knife. It's one of my favorites. I must tell ya'll how I came to get it. I never try to out do someone on a knife deal, but I like everyone else, am looking for a good deal.
Once a month, we have a supper at a good friends house. We are all men, cooking some wild game, of some kind. This particular night, after I arrived, a young man {boy}, came looking for me and said, "someone had told him, I like turtles and old knives". He offered me a bag, sight unseen, of knives and a live Snapping Turtle.
I asked him what was his price, he said "$5 a knife and $5 for the turtle. The knives, sight unseen. Well, I knew, the turtle meat was worth $30, so I took a chance.
It ended up with two vintage Case knives, a Jumbo Hunter and a large Toothpick, And you guessed it, my Remington Bullet knife, also.
I did go back and give the young man, a little more for the knife. His dad, wanted a school uniform, he wanted ......., well, I bought him the uniform.
I guess, you never know, where a good deal will come from..
Robert,
What an amazing story! And, an even more amazing knife! That will go down in the history books as not just a good deal, but, rather, a GREAT DEAL!
Good picture, too!
That is a great story and a fair trade! (Bet the turtle was good too!)
Great story Robert and a great pic to. Thanks for sharing it. That was nice of you to buy that uniform, everyone was happy. I would like to find a bag of knives like that. Try hard and listen to that old knife, maybe, just maybe, it was old Al Capones own knife. LOL.
