First eye surgery was done yesterday to remove my worst cataract.  Second will be done in a few months.  Now, in traditional "Seinfeld" fashion ...

LOL....Not a laughing matter though.  I wish you a speedy recovery.  I've had eye issues in the past and had to wear a patch, it was most definitely something that was a pain to get used to.

AHH!  (No, not, "ARRR!")

I'm sorry you've got to go through all this, but really glad you've got access to care, man.  That's huge.  I wish you the speediest & most solid recovery!  (You know, so you can go & do the other eye...)

Seriously though, I'm glad you'll continue to have your sight (& not just to appreciate your knives -- but y'know, the knives are there to be appreciated)...

Take care, Dennis, good luck, & be well!

As anyone who has had a cataract removed probably knows ... it was pretty much a breeze.  I even remember having a conversation with the surgeon and OR staff while he was doing his thing!!  Worst part was realizing just how hazy my vision really was.  Comparing how I see light viewing things out of my left eye compared with my right .... wow ... night and day difference.   But ..... I still don't want to be a pirate!!!

Super glad it was successful, Dennis.

Thanks J.J.  As anyone who has had cataract surgery in more recent times knows .... it is pretty much a cake walk.  A dental visit is more uncomfortable.  And .... really recommend it if your optometrist tells you you need it or if you are having some of the symptoms of cataracts.  Like anything else, the longer you live with a problem ... the more likely you are to adapt to it until it REALLY starts to affect you.  I was absolutely shocked at how much more yellow and cloudy my vision is looking through my right (yet to be worked on) than my left eye.  I thought to myself ... WOW, if my vision is this cloudy out of my right eye I can only imagine how bad it was from my left eye (which had a far worse cataract).  I did up a quick graphic comparison which closely replicates how my vision is now looking from each eye.  Left is how things look through my left eye, right is how things look through that eye.  And ... this comparison is pretty darn accurate!

I got a positive result to my diabetic eye test last time it was checked and also passed the DMV eye check machine with 100%.  I was worried because I've been using cheaters for the past 10 to 15 years for reading.  Not bad I guess for being almost 65.

My mom had cataract surgery, many years ago and I can remember her talking about it.  Like you she was totally awake and even asked the doctor what she'd do if she had to go to the restroom;  the doctor simply raised his hands up and pointed to a door and said "it's right over there".

Modern medicine is definitely amazing.
