SOG knives is a company that came into being because of Seki. In the early 1980s Spencer Davis was looking for a knife maker to produce a replica of the Vietnam era MACV-SOG Special Forces bowie knives. He turned to Bo Randall of Orlando FL who, even then, had a long long waiting list. But Bo Randall suggested that he get in touch with A.G. Russell who might be able to help him out. AG Russel introduced Spencer Davis to the Seki knifemakers. The first models, sometimes called the "Classic SOGs" were all made by Hattori from 1986 to 2006. The other models, including the Seal 2000 and Seal Pup, were made by Kinryu until 2007. Kinryu by the way has made the SRKs for Cold Steel since Cammilus went under around 2005. After that SOG switched all production to Taiwan to cut costs, Among the SOG fans, the Seki made ones are sought after discontinued collectibles while the current Taiwan made ones are considered not comparable.

Thanks Tim. The thing with trying to get folks to show their vintage "Seki" knives is that there are simply so many of them accross the board, from obscure imports in the 1980s by companies that have vanished, to some of the biggest names in the knife industry still going strong.

Agree with you Ken.  Guess I started this discussion group to see if there were many other Vintage SEKI collectors out there with similar interests, and to kind of showcase some of my SEKI pieces also.  As I mentioned, I am basically just a beginner collector with quite a few SEKI pocketknives in my collection that I wanted to share.  If you have noticed, my interests vary among all types of cutlery.  Enjoy viewing all your posts Ken.

I am also enjoying the pics and the knowledge!  Tim, Seki is a great way to collect..I do not think I have ever met a knife nut that doesnt respect the name of the city and what it has meant to knife collecting

Frost Cutlery Custom Mini Wharnie Lockback-Silver Golfer Inlay Seki Japan. 1980's, 2" closed. (2) different scales used, Appaloosa smooth bone & brown jigged bone. Brass pins & liner. Nickle silver bolster/brass liners/pins. Tang stamp Frost Cutlery "old logo" surgical steel.  Very high quality early Seki made frost knife.

Bulldog Brand - 1996 - 3-3/8" Canoe, black jigged bone, Round Bulldog Head shield, ethched blade Pitbull Trade Mark, 2-bld, nickel silver bolsters.

Frost Cutlery - 1980s - 3-5/8" Canoe, green jigged bone, blade etched "Indians in Canoe", 2-bld, nickel silver bolsters, made in Japan.

Parker - 1980s - 3-5/8" Kayak Canoe, dark brown pick bone, blade etched "Indians in Canoe", 2-bld, nickel silver bolsters.

Nice Parkers Tim. Besides the brands like Parker Cutlery, Parker Bros, Parker-Imai, there were a few knives labeled only as "Parker Custom Series". Some of these are Hattori knives abd I am stll hunting for them.

Meantime, three 1980s folders all made by Ichiro Hattori: Valor Super Sport 360, Kershaw 1050 Field, Browning Sportsman 506. The Browining 506 was originally a Gil Hibben design for Browning, and this same model was first made in the U.S., then Solingen Germany then Seki Japan. The Valor is one of the ones etched on the blade.

hey ken.  mighty impressive trio my friend.  my kind of knives.  thanks for sharing.  have quiet a few parkers in my collection also.  your parker knowledge is most admirable.
