A Bloomberg writer displays ignorance and prejudice in an outrageous article stating, "Don't Call it a Pocketknife" because "carrying a knife isn't just an anachronism; it's a terrible idea. So let's retire the term pocketknife, along with the practice it implies." His ridiculous alternative: "stay-at-home-knife."

Ostensibly a complimentary article on a few nice knives and their makers (and a referral to New York City high-end knife retailer Mastersmiths, in a blog named Loot Blog - Time and Money (Mostly) Well Spent), writer Stan Parish goes off the rails in the introduction. His bias against carrying a pocketknife is clear when he goes on to say that, "your stay-at-home knife should have at least one purely decorative touch, a non-functional note that says this blade's for unboxing well-packaged wine -- not standing your ground." Apparently he simply cannot comprehend that someone might carry an Every Day Carry pocketknife as anything other than a weapon. Millions of law-abiding Americans would disagree.

Ironically, considering he's writing for a New York City-based publication in a locale that persecutes knife owners, his advice to leave the knife at home isn't without some degree of merit as related to the two pocketknives he features. Both are one-hand opening lock-blade folding knives knives that the city might consider illegal gravity knives under its unconstitutionally vague application of the state gravity knife ban as applied against common folding knives. Of particular interest, since the city claims such knives are "per se" illegal, meaning they would be illegal even to possess in the home, he illustrates the hypocrisy of the city's persecution, as well as his own ignorance.

A Rose by any other name?  I am not giving up carrying my knife, nor calling it a knife.  I have carried over 25 years and never hurt a soul, other than the occasional cut to myself.

Just a shame it has come to this. Our country has certainly lost its way. My question is when did we become the "Protect me from myself" nation? Deathly afraid of everything, many of these so called Americans are afraid to come out of their house.

The time to take back our country is now before its too late.

When I was a youngster I would at times wonder why older people seemed standoffish and not speak much. As I approach retirement age it has become clear. They, now becoming me, are standoffish because we have learned from years of experience not to stand close to people who are stupid. They can either inadvertently cause you injury or worse, you could be mistaken to share their beliefs. Standing off and keeping quiet also usually allows these mentally deficient individuals to find easier prey to attach themselves to. They stand of to see what other signs of non-intelligence will be displayed. We keep quiet to see if their babbling will continue of if sanity will suddenly reclaim this lost soul. We also develop a solid belief in our core values and principles. We don't compromise. We look at these folks and wonder where they learned their rhetoric. We hold fast to the lessons we've learned through trial and error, more error than trials. I see people around me that speak of gay rights, global warming, political trends, the latest electronic gadget, or world peace. I have reached the age where I know where I can make a difference and what I like and don't like.

All this to say there are people who will work to take away our rights to carry knives or guns. I provide what financial support I can to knife and gun groups. I verbally defend my rights to carry one or the other or both. These rights were given to my by our founding fathers and protected by countless millions who have fought and died to keep those rights. I will promote these things to my children and grandchildren with my last breath. I will also teach them to stand off and quietly watch others until they learn which way their influence is going. Carry a pocket knife? YOU'RE DARNED RIGHT I'M CARRYING ONE! AND IT'S A BEAUTY!!

I always have 2 or 3 knives on me. Usually the Spyderco is used since I don't have to dig in my pocket for it. But, if I need one with a screwdriver or scissors, then the Victorinox comes out. I would be lost with out these tools in my pockets. It amazes me how ignorant of life some people are. People hurt other people, not tools, guns or knives. David used a rock to kill Goliath.

Knives/Weapons.....are safe for the 95% of the population.....it is the 5% violent criminal and just down right accidents that gives the bad name or stereo type that ALL is bad........The Intelligent people of the USA should understand this......So that must not include our politicians...They need re-educated that they represent the Many not the few....................So write your congressman/woman your views and promote it to your family friends and neighbors.......

RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS!...........should not be amended to fit the the Few.......
