My good friends found this old knife when cleaning out a trailer of neat stuff that belonged to their dad!

They thought I might know something about it, but I'm stumped...

Can anyone identify this knife?

Could it have been from the military?

I appreciate any and all input!

Well if I had to guess at this one, I would say it definitely a handmade knife. What looks to be the handle of a tool, possibly a wrench, and then fitted with a blade. That could have been welded or or possibly something hammered out to form the blade. It is hard to make that determination from the picture. I am always amazed at ingenuity!

It is from a WW II US mess kit

Yep! Jan nailed it spot on. It's from an old military mess kit.

You can still buy surplus ones.

Jan - thanks so much! I appreciate everyone's input! I had told my friends that I was confident one of the "knife crazies" at iKnifeCollector would know!!!

Thanks guys!

LOL!
