Large Portion of Collections up for Auction
Hi All, my wife and I have decided to start right sizing as retirement nears. As part of that, I have just placed over 3/4’s of the knives I own (from my and my deceased father’s collections) up for sale at a local on line auction house. For sale are: 29 fixed blade mostly custom hunting and fishing knives by makers including George Herron, Randall, Corbett Sigman, GW Stone, Owens and Morseth. 14 folding blades including 2 beautiful Shaw-Leibovitz, and one by Barry Wood. Plus 3 each slip joint and boot knives. Finally, a samurai sword my dad had stashed in a drawer. The online auction is in early December 2021 and is being held by www.leonardauction.com, a local business my extended family has used before for estates. My knife items (I have other collections also for sale) start on page 15 through 17, items 385 to 417. The catalogue has been posted with lots of good photos.

This is both good news and sad at the same time - no one wants to give up a hard earned and much loved collection. But at the end of the day, you do what you have to do - and at least with right-sizing, you made the choice instead of the choice being made for you. I wish you much success via the auction. Converting your knives into something else needed is never a bad thing....
Thanks for sharing the news - and I really appreciate the catalog page info...I had already taken a look and closed it around page 10....so now I need to go back and peek again!

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. And do not worry, I was able to keep my favorites, plus giving some to my kids, so I am not bladeless :). Yes, I added the page’s because his auction runs 650 listings over 28 pages, and although there are some cool weapons and other stuff mixed in, I can only take so many pig collectibles and similar items myself.

Well I am just sure we are related! :-D I'm Polish...you live in a Polish town....and my favorite Polish restaurant is there...Delilah's Garden (unless the family retired to Fort Meyers, FL permanently).
There are some really nice pieces you have in that auction - dead_left_knife_guy should get in on one or two of those Randall's for sure. Your choice of auction house looks pretty good too - great selection and variety of items.
I think you'll do just fine - we just have to keep plugging away at getting folks interested....

Definitely a polish town, my kids babysitters for the first five years spoke to them more in polish than English, and gotta love Easter when all of the bakeries make the putchki’s - I know the spelling is off. The Randall knives are pretty awesome, I kept some of those for sure.

LoL! Lots of grace for spelling... However, just to help a brother out (and anyone else who may read this thread)....polish is what you do to your knife.....Polish is the person! Subtle difference I know... :-)

I had a look at the items, although I can't really get involved, not being in the US.
Lot of three Pumas......
One is Model 6385 Trapper's Companion (Right Hand Version) and has to be mint given the RC decal is intact. Although I already have one I'd happily pay $500 AU `~ $650 US for that one alone. The auction suggests around $250 US for the three?
I hope you get what is a realistic price........

Thanks Vinnie , I agree the starting prices are a bit low for some of the lots. I saw that you like Puma’ the most on your new member post. I like Puma’s too, My everyday fishing knife growing up was a puma, one of my all time favorites that is not up for sale.

Vinnie, The pre auction bidding has started, and the 3 Puma’s got an opening bid of……….only $75. But there are 8 days till the live auction. No surprise, the Samurai tanto short-sword and one of the Randall’s have the most early bids. I have never done this before, and it is kind of fun watching what draws interest. None of my wife’s lots have a bid yet, but she still has plenty of time.

Greg, yeah that's not surprising, I suppose there aren't that many serious Puma collectors around, but surely someone will recognise what is in that lot and pay a good price. Its the Trappers Companion that should lift that price, even though it is the more common RH version it is still quite a rare knife
