Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

After my latest fishing trip, which I discussed in this group earlier, I decided to look into the design and creation of a handmade multi-purpose hiking staff. There is one on the market made by Crawford that is amazing in its versatility, but it's a little spendy for my blood, so I decided to make my own. YouTube has some good videos on this subject. Does anyone have any experience making one that they would be willing to share with the Group?

Does anybody know where I can purchase a used sword cane, sword walking stick, or sword umbrella with a decent width sword blade (3/4-inch plus) at a very reasonable price?   I'd like to join parts of one of those with one of my survivalist's staffs or just use the blade in one.
Terry, it was fun carving them, I guess I have a long way to go as a carver though.

Terry, here is some pictures of some I am working on. There's alot you can do to mix it up, carve a face or an eye. In alot that I make I enlet old coins, like an Indian Head Nickel or a Mecury Dime depending on how big around the end is. You will notice the cedars, people love them also on some you can add a little paint. There is so many things you can do, your imagination is your limit. Let me know if you have questions.

very cool walking sticks you done a good job on them robert i would not mind having one are you going to sell them i would like one sir.....
Stephen I am not selling any till I have a bunch made. I'll let you know.

Robert,

TOO COOL, I love the faces.  Here is the walking stick Robert made for me.  It is just beautiful and certainly helps with my knee when I am doing a bit of walking

And yes, when you get ready let me know, Donnie does need one
That eye is carved and painted, I don't know if you can tell by the picture. I hope J.J. dosen't laugh at them. I am learning.
If this project was mine, I'd look for a piece of rattan, instead. I've tried everything from fresh-cut green to well-dried bamboo for something I'm working on and EVERY STINKING ONE of the pieces I drilled exploded, splintered, split or in some way self destructed.
I never had one explode but maybe let the wood dry a little longer. For sure don't try get on a air plane..lol
wow terry that sounds cool can't wait to see how it comes out.....
Mr Burris, you can let me know too. Jim

Jim, I'll be glad to let you know when I have a bunch made. Everyone always scoops them up before I have a chance to get a few together to look at. So this time I made up my mine to wait till I have a few finished. Thanks.
I really like the carving Robert.  I even like that it is a little primitive, it gives those faces some character
