When cleaning smaller catfish .. be careful of the pectoral & dorsal fins .. as they have a sharp pointy spine which can pierce the skin & cause minor pain.

.

... and might I add ...

.

!!! .. Huge kudos to Cougar Creek Knife Company, owned by Danny & Tracey Reed of Reed Cutlery .. !!!

The thought of spending the day wandering around SMKW sends shivers up my spine... ROAD TRIP!!!

Where Is the SPINE on a Double-Edged Blade?

Apparently edge was the word yesterday; but, I cannot find a word for today in the right column.

Boy, my spine is aching after driving from New Orleans today.

I believe that political correctness can be a form of linguistic fascism, and it sends shivers down the spine of my generation who went to war against fascism.

Does it count for yesterday if I post my entry before the next word is up today?  I'm just gonna have a spine & post it...

Between the tang & the cutting edge .. one will find the choil.

To die, to sleep, To sleep, perchance to Dream; aye, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal c[h]oil,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes Calamity of so long life:

Hamlet's soliloquy from William Shakespeare

The only thing I could think of as there isn't a lot of usage for choil

The "CHOIL" is an unsharpened section of the blade.

Choking up on the blade for precision work is far easier in most cases when the blade has an integrated choil -- I could really use one on some of my carving knives!

Sometimes I put my index finger on the "choil" for better control.
