Youth knife?

Robert-This is a post WWII German youth knife--After the war, German knife companies had stockpiles of completed knives as well as parts to make them as every member of the Hitler youth was given one.No longer allowed to show the swastika on the diamond shield, they re-branded the shield like yours or with a fleur de lis and sold them as Boy Scout knives or souvenirs and exported them to other countries. Edge Brand is not a manufacturer, but a house brand or trademark of Gutmann Cutlery Co. of Mount Vernon, NY. who were major cutlery importers who started in 1947 after the war. So your knife was either made during the war, or from parts after the war. Who actually made the knife is a mystery as Gutmann had them marked with the Edge Brand name. BTW, when completed knives and parts started to run out, there were knives made with old and brand new parts mixed together, and some made with all new parts until the demand for them began to wear off.
