Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Is it really that hard to call fighting men and women who are not on a ship or in an aircraft GROUND FORCES!  Boots on the ground has become such an idiotic over used phrase my our politicians and news media!  These are soldiers and marines who fight and die protecting us. Stop calling them an article of footwear!  I'm am so sick of hearing politicians and media folks call our ground forces boots on the ground.  It is even more insulting when most of them were never in the military, let alone seen combat!  They make me want to shoot the television set!  It is such an overused, insulting term for our service members who are willing to go toe to toe with the enemy at our gates!  I'm sure the general who first uttered the term is fed up with all the politicians and media idiots who have now turned it into political fodder for pollsters and TV ratings.

You said that very well Tobias, and I fully agree, and I bet most of the others on this forum would agree also. I was one of those "boots on the ground" in Vietnam but I was an actual Marine with not only boots but my whole soul and body were there also. Thanks Tobias.

I feel the same way, Tobias. I always support our Troops but not always the politics. Lord, help us.

Its disrespectful and dehumanizing and you are absolutely right media and the politicians have no idea what they are talking about.

They speak of real people as just so many chess pieces.  Its not right.

I would just ask these tabloid warriors if they are only "boots", then why do these "boots" come home in flag draped coffins. Wouldn't a shoe box be easier and cheaper to transport?
