I personally would avoid the new Chinese made knives. I have too much love for the real ones, the ones made in NY.

Picked up a Taylor made 33ot at Tractor Supply today.

Build is OK, but lacking the "feel" that I remember from long ago.

They've got a 194 that might make a good wharnie mod though...

There is a difference, older US made Schrades were never perfect but they always felt good in your hand
That's right ken. They're close but no cigar.

That is good to know J.J.  I was thinking about picking up a 340t from Northern Tool just to see the difference myself.

Went back to tractor supply today to pick up one of the 194's. Each one I looked at had problems with the liner lock. Either the lock wouldn't engage or there was excessive play in the lock when engaged.
Officially bummed because I really wanted to make a carver from one.

I know that the Chinese are buying large chunks of the US, but I didn't realize that they bought Tennessee...

The blade material is a dead giveaway. Whenever you see something like 7Cr17 you know it is Chinese. This seller needs to be a little more honest about the country of origin on his products!
