That one knife that no respectable knife collector should have but you have anyway.

Do you have knife that is seriously an embarrassment to your collection but you like and display it anyway?"  Even more, you have  no shame in owning it and will share a picture of it here! I actually have several but this is one of my faves!   And strangely many non-knife collectors love it!  I've actually given it away twice as gifts only to buy it again!

I call it the Werewolf Slayer.  Sure the blade is just make believe silver but seeing how werewolves are also make believe, that's close enough!

Surprisingly the 7+ inch blade is razor sharp and made of 440 Stainless Steel. The handle is pot metal and plastic as is the scabbard.  The blade has a tang about three inches long that is pretty much glued in the handle.  Still it could be lethal considering how sharp and pointy it is!  I like to drop sheets of paper and cut them half this knife.

So what is your embarrassing piece of cutlery look like?

LOL, My grand daughter bought me one similar at a knife show. I have it somewhere.

Shame on you Robert!  Any knife a grandchild buys you has to be displayed!

I did for a long time. She bought it over 10 years ago. I still have it in my collection. It came with a display and storage box.

I retract my last comment.  You're a good grandparent!

Some might say this falls into that category.  Surprisingly it is the one knife that anyone who comes into my living room can see on display.  I keep it on top of my TV cabinet which is over six feet tall (to keep  it out of Danny's hands!)  It was given to me by my brother-in-law.  It was made in India.

Oh Dear!  I keep seeing those come up on eBay and if ever one gets to the right price I'm going to own one.  Those are just so cool!

You are one lucky man, Charles!

Tobias, those come up on eBay?!  I have never seen one.  What do they sell for?  I just figured it was a cheap knife made by a street vendor in India.  My brother-in-law said it was given to him by a German.  (He spent several years in Germany as a missionary.)

It does have what I assume is the makers mark on the end of the fishes tail.

They start around $30 for a bidding price and often they go for around $45.  I've seen ones go for much higher, however. It depends on the sales pitch and if a bidding war breaks out.  Shipping tens to add another $15.

If I could get one for around $35 including the shipping I might to a shot. Most claim the wood to be Teak.

I've seen similar knives out of Russia but they are made of plastic and are much smaller.

Here is one similar to yours:

Tobias, you piqued my interest.  I had to go looking on eBay.  I found two listed.

This one is a Buy It Now for $55.50 with free shipping.  It says it was purchased in India in 1960 which would make it at least 54 years old.

This one is a Buy It Now for $49.95 but $24.50 shipping from Canada.

Tobias, I just found this one.  The current bid is $10 with $10 shipping.  There is an hour and a half to go on the auction.
