Linda I hope you will add some American Brands to your collection.  Idaho is the best state in America, and  one of the best brands of all time is Buck knives, which is   located in Post Falls Idaho, and  no knife  represents that brand better than the Buck 110. In case such cold hard uncontested facts don't convince you, I think you should know I have a Krag-Jorgenson 6-5 x 55 Swedish Mauser rifle and  several Swedish Army Knives, not that you owe us or anything ,  but  we all know  Sweden's reputation for fairness . I just checked and those are Swiss Army knives, but I still have the SwedishMauser and I'll raise you a Husqvarna chain saw.

Hello everyone! I just joined IKC yesterday and I'm really glad I found the community. It seems to be the home of a really great bunch of people. I love knives and I have a few that I use every day, but it is only recently that I've thought about collecting them. I'm Scandinavian, living in Sweden, and the knifes I have are all Scandis (except, of course, my multi-tools). I would really like to expand my collection with some non-Scandi knifes.

Ken,

LOL...Can't fault the reasoning or the knife choice.

Linda,

We are pleased to have you with us.  Tell us what your looking at for adding to the collection

Welcome all new members! We are glad you are here with us!

Ken: Your reasoning is extremely convincing. I mean, a Huskvarna chain saw... Especially since my granddad is from the town Huskvarna! I promise, I'll order one ASAP. For real. I don't own a folding knife (except my multi-tools) and I really need one. And the Buck 110 seems to be an excellent choice. Also, it is available in Sweden which means I save a lot on postage and taxes.

Linda, it's great to have you here with us, I hope you enjoy yourself. What other American made knives do they sell over there? There is alot of other knife companies besides Buck knives. I would look around a little bit before deciding what to get. Then if you still chose Buck you know that is what you really want. I'd hate to see you purchase a knife and then a week later find out that there's another brand that you really rather than the one you bought.

That is a good question Robert, I find it interesting that the Buck is available for you there, what else is available in Sweden?

Robert has a  good point, if you have buyers remorse and decide the 110  does not have a place in your collection, I will buy it from you at what you paid and pay the shipping just to have a knife from one of our members from Sweden. I have been using 110s since the 70's and riding motorcycles since 1963. The 110 and Harleys go together as if they were part of the uniform. So if you get a Harley you will already have a head start.

Robert, don't worry. Then I just buy another one! :-) No, just kidding. But the knife in question wasn't that expensive so I think I can afford to thake the chance.

There are a lot of American brands available here (which is true for other things than knives as well). There are Spyderco, Banchmade, Chris Reeve, Kershaw, Cold Steel, Gerber, CRKT, SOG... You probably can find others as well, but these are the ones I can think of right now.

Linda,

That is nice to know.  Now we need to see if we can get a GEC dealer there.  Have one in Australia.  Now we need one in Europe

So nice to see all the new members Scott. iKC is growing with collectors all over the world!

Thats one of the benefits of being here Hog, we really are an international community.  Great folks from all over the world

Hello,

I am new to this group, but have been on the "other" knife sites. Look forward to seeing and hearing about new/pre-owned knife finds and reviews.

I started with tactical knives and folders, but I have recently (10 mo) have been collecting smaller and more traditional folders. Mostly Case and a couple of Queens, am looking into GEC and Canal Street. I love a nice Toothpick, but I also like the Seahorse/Gippetto whittlers and Canoes patterns.

I'll post some pics of what I have now when I can get some decent light for the pictures
