Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Okay I'm ready to ask my initial question that led me here, I've never really thought about people being a community that I can discuss my excitement for knives, honestly.. This is my mistake. I'm not oblivious to social media or anything...I just missed this cool opportunity. With all my Case knife experience... I've never really questioned anything - they are well stamped, dated, and well made. Very clear. Then, through my struggling research recently concerning my late father's seemingly rare, Western Cutlery w49 sesquicentennial bowie, (he really inspired the lady I am today), the lack of information has made me almost obsessed. Any input is so appreciated.

Welcome, once again, Jaquelin, to iKC.2

A quick search found these links;

This thread, from Blade Forums, mentions the Texas commemorative,

Hope they can get you started.
Quoted by Chris in your last link: "There were far less than 15,000 of the Texas Bowies made - they were not selling- Western management gave all the employees a Texas Bowie with a personalised plaque. there was a limited run of them with Ivory handles made"

I remember when I was younger that my dad mentioned something about this particular knife NOT being 1 of 15,000, but rather like 1200 (if I remember correctly) - because of lack of sales..

I appreciate your effort very much! I've had a hard time searching with the right keywords... That and not many people seem to know anything about it! It truly is a lovely knife - was always my favorite (tho dad never let me play with it when I was young. A good thing lol). It's been over a year since he passed and I've finally made my way to it... And I love how he took care of his things... This knife is flawless :)

Oh and I forgot - the 2nd worthpoint link - that is the exact same bowie as mine, however the date clearly says 1986 - not 1936, as this ad says. It clearly says Sesquicentennial.. So yeah. Oh and it never came with an original sheath :/

Jacqueline-The website Cutlers Cove which in my  experience has been very reliable stated that  the 1 of 15000 was due to the knives being incorrectly marked and there were actually only 1500 made. As far as value, I have seen recent sales of $140-150 without the box, and one of $300 with the presentation box.Here is the link to the Cutlers Cove knife.However, they did incorrectly list the date as 1936 rather than 1836.

A beautiful knife Jacqueline!

I agree, Charles! John, yes I have come across that particular listing. Check this out (postings # 11, 12, and 13): http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1225380-1984-westm...
