Hand forged = hammer in hand forging (pounding) hot metal.

Forge - v, to form by heating in a forge and beating or hammering into shape.

Any other claim .. will still be forging .... just the type we prefer to avoid.

I.e.   to make or produce a fraudulent imitation of (a signature, hand forged knife, banknote, etc.) or to commit forgery.

Wes, doing sock removal you can claim your blade is hand made but not hand forged. To be hand forged you have to heat it and beat it. There is some stock removal in the forged blade but not the otherway around. Persoanlly I'm a pounder and I forge my blades as close to finished shape as possible. I forge the profile and bevels the rest is clean up on the grinder. What I like about forging is the controll I have over my blade shape. I move the steel to where I want it not just remove it.
That was very infomative Guys, thanks for the info

wonder how that hand forging is going?
