Nice one, Alexander! I used to have the Brown Rucarta version. Very well made knives.
The composition of the steel is somewhat comparable to 440B, an excellent user steel that is reasonably corrosion resistant. Decent edge holding but don't expect supersteel performance. Edge holding is just below that of 440C.
Nope, to be honest I think the pictures on the A.G. Russell website are kind terrible really. They're grainy, low resolution and a little vague.
But on the other hand that makes each knife that I've gotten soo much sweeter since each knife is soo much nicer than what you've seen on the website.
The fit and finish on that knife look exceptional. Quite well done and a rare sowbelly trapper too!
The fit and finish of Mr Russell's knives are second to none from what I've seen so far. Personally don't own any CASE knives but I've read comparisons with the high end Case/Bose collab knives and the Russell's came out favourably in those.
I have the Yellow Delrin Wharncliffe Sowbelly and have nothing but good to say about it. Solid built, fit and finish are excellent, the blade was paper shearing sharp right out of the box. It rides nice in my hip pocket, and the lanyard on it does come in handy. (I have always carried my wallet in my left hip pocket and a knife in my right...did it for years "on the job" and still do. Works for me...)
AG, you made a good one here - I salute you for it, sir.
