Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Boker is a true international company, with branches in Germany, the U.S. and Argentina.  The South American operation specializes in fixed blades, but they do make at least two folders - the Gaucho and the Gaucho Jr.  These knives will look very familiar to any American collector, as they are built to the Sodbuster pattern.  I only have one that I know is an Arbolito, and another that may be.  Here is the confirmed sighting, a Gaucho Jr.  I'd enjoy seeing any other Arbolitos, fixed or folders.

Hi Paul,

The word Arbilito is Spanish for "little tree."  The Arbolito stamped knives were also sold by Casa Boker (1865 - present) in Mexico City who imported them from Germany for the Spanish market there.

I knew I had one of these somewhere. Just took me a few days to track it down!

aqui.

Hi !
The ancient gauchos were poor people without enough money for buy a good quality knife.
So, they made their knives with pieces of iron, broken swords, etc.
Some trade men imported knives from England, France, Germany, etc. and the Argentine people who bought these knives could not pronounce the word Böker as a German one.
It was easier to say Arbolito, cause of the small hazel tree on the blade.
The Böker Factory in Solingen begun to make blades and knives with the Böker-Arbolito logo for the Argentine market and, since then, we feel the brand as our own.
Best regards from Argentina
Jorge
