This Boker Arbolito knife was made in Argentina.

This is a traditional German hunting knife in a pattern called a "Nicker".

What is the source of this pattern name?

Nicker actually Jagdnicker, which is a hunting (Jag) knife and is predominately Bavarian in design.

You check translations online and they come back with either a pound sterling note or ladies panties and while both are correct in their meanings it has nothing to do with knives...While we may call underpants, knickers, bloomers, panties in Bavaria knickers are the name for socks. Specifically knee high socks worn as part of the traditional lederhosen outfit. A knicker knife, therefore, would be a sock knife as it was meant to be worn there similar to a Sgian Dubh worn by the Scottish Highlanders.

They din’t need huge knives…Firstly, the added expense of the steel and secondly, they weren't hunting large animals Roe buck and Chamois predominately (about the size but not weight of Great Dane dogs)

you got it shlomo! Great post!
