Bought this on ebay today but i can't find much information on it. Didn't pay much, but was wanting to add to my collection. Any one know what it is?

... would you snap a macro close-up of the tang stamp .. would aid greatly in identification !!!

Very unique and unusual - sorry, I have no idea, but hope someone else does. I would be interested to hear about it also.

Thanks for posting Jack Pappy.

Jack it looks very much like a 61048 it is the right size and right blade for the XX period. Can't find one with the ez opening cut though. May be a user mod.

Would like to get a better micro shot, but this is the pic on ebay. It is stamped with CASE and the double XX below it,  like the time period of 40 - 64 according to the Knives and razors ID book,  but the shape has me puzzled. Don't think it is modded, I'll have to wait till it comes in to see for sure.

click on the pic it will get larger

the more I look at it the more I am convinced it very well could be modded.

I'm going with the user-mod route also.

Looks like the original owner made a real nice carving knife.

Looks like a Barehead Slimline Trapper with a modified blade and handle.

Does look like a mod on a Slimline. Cool knife though!

Max the blade is correct for the XX era.

If thats the true Gerald then I would say a graffting knife or budding knife!

I think I am going to ask the seller if he has any information on the owner? Maybe it will give us insight as to why the mod was done or what the knife was used for?
