Ok I know this is a mini trapper and I know that it is a case. Got it from an uncle who bought it at Shepherd of hills cutlery in Lebanon Missouri. there is no label on the box and on one side of the blade it says usa over 6207w over ss. the other side of the blade is blank. the name case is no where on the knife. Could this be a mistake?

Yes, its a strange "case" indeed.

The knife is obviously a brother of this one (w stands for wharncliffe):

You  should ask directly SHC:
Do you see any flaw?

the number says 6207w but it only has one blade.

That's really crazy, then, since 62... means "2 bladed", as you know.

Yes I know kind of weird.

That's what i would do too Lee. the folks at Shepherd Hills are very nice and have always taken the time to answer questions personally. I would send the info and wait for a response or try calling the Case Historian. i would try Shepherd Hills first, very nice folks.

I've done a lot of business with Shepherd Hills and they have always been real good to me.

Give that a try Lee. I've never had a problem getting any answers from Shepherd Hills Cutlery. They always bend over backwards to help me......when I need help. And at my age I need LOTS of help.

Gave them a call then sent them the pictures. There going to a lot of trouble trying to help me. I told them I like the knife and planned on keeping it. I just want a little more info on what it is. I really need to make another trip up there but it makes my wife cringe. I always spend way to much money. lol

I'll be anxious to hear what they say.

Lee,

This appears to be item #25806 Second Cut Antique Bone Mini Trapper.  The Tang Stamp is placed on the Blades at the time they are cut from the steel.  At the time the knife was put together the factory used the wrong blade.  This item was release in 2010 so there is no way to go back and tell how many were made this way.  I am sure it would have be a low number.  Original retail for this item was $43.99.  Please let us know if we can help you with anything else!

Thank you very much for your interest in W R Case Pocketknives and Shepherd Hills Cutlery!
