Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hi everyone and welcome to our newest members,

Something we have not talked about lately is new aquisitions.  Tell us about your latest and greatest GEC.  Donnie bought me both the new 23's in the Beavertail (Worlds greatest husband by the way)  He got himself the newest 73 in Primitive bone.  THAT is a heck of a nice knife.

What have you gotten lately?

My newest beauty.  A total surprise, a gift from a friend :)  Tell us what have you acquired recently

Chris,

I did some help with a friend suffering from not being able to post pictures.  Dave Taylor, being the exceptional gentleman that he is sent this as a way of saying thank you.

Those are some wonderful knives Dan, they look like a happy Stag family!!!

Okay, my new buddy arrived today. First off, I really hope that more of these knives are made. The Bull Nose is really a nice knife guys, the frame is very attractive and feels great in hand. It's size is much like the #73, so it's a pocketable pattern. The opening is smooth, but it snaps into place. I really enjoy the fact that this model has half stops, which I really like. This knife is perfect for cold weather use because the frame leaves a lot of blade to pinch onto.

Here is a fading light pic.

I'll try for better outside pics tomorrow.

Until then, here is a studio lighted shot.

Nice, Johnny.

Very Nice Johnny

Glad you like it.  I dont mind the knife but sure wish it had been made in the Great Eastern style with some wonderful handles.  Let us know what you think about the steel

Jan, I would love to see this pattern become a mainstay for GEC, but I think the reason we even saw it when we did is because of Mike Latham and his want to fill customers desires. People want cheap, but they also want a quality USA made knife. I know people who won't bite the bullet and try a GEC out, all because of price. The hope was to make this sodbuster pattern a sub $50 knife for GEC to have out, that way more people would be willing to try one.

I will be testing this knife for the next month or so and if I like it, I plan to scream from the tops of mountains about it. : )

I want this pattern to stick, I don't care about colors anymore, this is a winner.

This pattern is obviously a good one for GEC, after seeing what they did with it, it should become a norm for them, so lets see what happens. I don't care if the price remains $60, it's more than worth it.

The edge on this #71 is hair shaving sharp and the blade is willing to do snakes through newspaper without tearing and only giving a little whisper. Expect more pics tomorrow. : )

I'll be putting the knife through some cardboard cut tests to see about edge retention and such. To be honest my hopes are really high, this knife and steel just feel right.

I sense a light patina starting from orange peel. : )
