Thanks Jan - I don't know if you remember, but my son and I met you and Don this year at the rendezvous on the day of pig pickin.'   It was pure pleasure talking about these fine knives with you guys.  Best, Dan

Hi Jan - I'm still not good at navigating my way through all these posts.  What do we need to do to reserve an IKC knife?  Best, Dan

I want to be sure we are all in for the IKC knife.  With less than 20 left available I would hate to the GEC folks here to miss out on it.  Let me know!!!

Okay, I could really spread some GEC word with a camo ball cap. That sounds as good as a couple GEC T-shirts. I have yet to buy a kitchen knife, but I think she would like one. She hasn't had a good kitchen knife yet, so I'll have to get her one. : )

You are correct in your assumption my friend, the #73 is in 1095. It's starting to take a nice patina on the clip blade, I think once it gets the good ol' blue stuff, it'll look even better.

And, I think I can find room somewhere for the #56. I would hate to not have a decent slippy on me at camp. I'll see what I can do about the bear, but it's not likely.

Johnny,

You are right about the product line. Has anyone tried the kitchen knives? I bought one of each for my wife (yeah right) and she really likes them. I like them too. They came pretty darn sharp too. Don't need steak knives right now but maybe someday. I would like to see an American Elk, Burnt Stag or Red Wine handled camp axe and matching fixed blade combo. I might have to buy one of those for the wife and for each of the kids!

Johnny, you will be as they say, loaded for bear my friend with all of those GEC's. I see you look to be going half 1095 and half 440C that is if that right hip is a Tidioute or a Northfield. I think that you need to find a spot for that #56 Ivory bone Tidioute too. What would really top it off is a camo GEC ball cap (hint, hint GEC). Too bad our friends at GEC don't make a camp knife too (not so subtle hint) but I think only you and I want one of those.  Be safe fella and get you some bear!

Okay, I'm headed to bear camp tomorrow so I have to choose my EDCs for the trip. Right now it's looking like this.

FRP Tidioute #73L.

BRP GEC #72 Red Wine.

Right Hip #73 scout.

And in the Right cargo pocket will be my #72 Elk.

I'm still not sure if Elk will get the nod though if I really need a knife. I thinking about letting it go this season. I may check with Chris to see if I can get the blade wobble fixed. Running the show will either be the #72 Red Wine, or the #73L.

Camp axe, Camp knife.

That would be an awesome set. I think the only place GEC can go, is up. They continually add product to their production, so they have the collector's attention. They are ever improving upon existing frames and they listen. Thats the big one, they actually care about the consumer's demands.

I have had a trial subscription to Knife World but forgot to renew it. Maybe I'll give them a try....

I wouldn't mind seeing GEC give the camp axe's a try. Looks pretty good with that handle. Could be a classic like the old Western Black Beauty's or other similar models. GEC could do a matching knife and hatchet. Stupid me would have to have one of each handle type though! OCD and knife collecting are a tough combination!!!
