Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I have been told there is more than one way to skin a cat.  It has been suggested that if I am lucky enough to see and shoot this cat while deer hunting, I should make something out of his fur.

I thought it would make a good discussion to have my fellow iKC members (most of whom I am sure are much more knowledgeable about this than I am) help me decide which of my knives would be the best to skin this cat.  I have never tried to skin a cat so all suggestions are welcome.

Of the knives I have I think one of these three would be the best for the job if it comes to pass.  All opinions as to which would be best are welcome.

I'm thinking this Buck 393 Omni Hunter might be a little large for the job.

This Browning DX Model 514 might be a better choice.

Would this little Frost fixed blade be suitable to skin this cat?

Nice knife Indian.

I have skinned Bob Cats before and my choice would be the Browning.

That does loo like its ordered up for the job at hand... This site might help when you get it: http://crockettcoonskincaps.tripod.com/wildanimals.html

Tobias, that is a neat knife.  And I like the deer etched one that goes with it.  If I did get it, I don't know if i could bring myself to actually use it! LOL

But since I have already put down a deposit to have a custom knife made that is going to cost about $200 and since I just ordered a Case knife from Shepherd Hills, I had probably better pass on those.  Even though I would like to have them!

At the risk of counting hens before the eggs hatched, I suggest you go for a Westlock  521 Bobcat skinner,.

Yes Charles this little knife was made by a local knife maker by the name of Bill Wiebe....the sheath is what annoys me...sooo I am in the process of making another...and then when I am done....I was thinking of sending it to Alabama...address unknown as of yet but I will find out....lol

Maybe a Tops Cheetah? But I'm thinking I'd give the Brian Wilhoite Celtic Skinner a try!  Beautiful Knife for a beautiful cat. (and very affordable!)

Nice knives Tobias.
