Yes they decided this is the way to address an active shooter event. LEO have been saying and teaching this for years. For me, it will be fight. It boils down to, Sheep, Wolf and Sheepdog.

They never mention that if you have to fight, your chances are much better if you also have a firearm.

Too old to run, too big to hide...guess I'll have to fight.

A good analogy Clint.  I like it.

I think the saying, the best defense is a good offense, definitely would apply here.

watching this I almost felt like I should have been hiding under the desk all over again.  There are so many of these videos out there right now.  I have watched about a dozen, not a one of them says a thing about being armed

Trying to fight without being armed would put you at a big disadvantage.

J.J.  I like your saying!  My issue is how do I run if I can barely walk?  How do I hide if I am a big man?  How do I fight from a chair without a gun?  I carry a knife every day but who "brings a knife to a gun fight?"  I can only handle a gun at a gun range without dropping it.  I guess I will have to reduce the bad guy's ammunition by absorbing some shots.  Hell of a choice.

John,

I am going to go out on a limb here because it is not my field of expertise.  I am thinking you should carry some good pepper spray with a long range capability.  I know up here we carry bear spray and most of them will reach at least 20 feet.  Not a lethal protection but may give you time to get to somewhere safe

John, I'm guessing the last time I was even able to run was nearly 20 years ago.  2 joint replacements and arthritis have me severely limited also.  Jan does offer a good suggestion.  A good pepper spray can definitely help.  In my past life I was a chemical weapons instructor, for our institution, and they do a good job as a deterrent.

Those are great suggestions!
