Great sentiment Charles - you would shake your head in wonder at what Australian Firearms owners/users have let successive Governments get away with here ...  just about everything from a Pop Gun on up, is highly regulated.

The socialists/liberals are trying to do the same thing here.  Actually most of them want to totally ban guns.  But they know they can't accomplish that all at once.  They are incrementalists.  They take whatever they can get whenever they can get it.  Their mantra is "common sense gun laws."  The problem is if you compromise with them and they pass a "common sense gun law" it won't be enough.  They will immediately start working on the next "common sense gun law."  No matter how much you give them and compromise with them, it will never be enough.  They will always come back for more.  If you keep compromising with them, soon you will have no more rights left.  At some point you have to say "No more."  That is why I am a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).  If it weren't for the NRA we probably would have very few of our Second Amendment rights left.
