I thought a little trivia might be interesting.  This is from one of Louis L'Amour's western stories.  Who can be first to tell me what is wrong with this sentence?

"He was working on the firing pin of a Walker Colt when he heard the door open."

You're cartridges are called the 38/40 and the 44/40 and were used in both pistols and rifles.

The .38 WCF fires an 180 gr, .401 bullet at 1,160 fps and 538 ft/lbs.  The .40 S&W uses the same diameter bullet.at about the same loading.

The .44 WCF (.44 Largo) fires a 200 gr, .427 bullet at 1,245 fps and 688 ft/lbs and is the parent cartridge to the above.

Remington, Marlin and Colt all made guns chambered in the .44 Win or .44/40.

There have been discrepancies aplenty--.357 mag/.38 Spec, .22 is actually .223 of .224, to name a few.
