Steve, that poor pup and kid been on my mind this evening. Dogs dont sweat so the only way to get cool is drinking water or bathing them in cool water. They become dehydrated quickly in the hot sun and without water it's a death sentence. The little boy didn't know how bad the pup was dehydrated until the pup hit the ground dead.  We tryed CPR, bags of ice and water to no avail. Once the heart stops it's over. People, the animals have to have water ALL the time, especially on hikes or jogging or high heat like today. It was 104* today and this happened in town with water ever where but it was too late for this beautiful 8 month old German Shepard. Yep it broke my heart.

I subscribe to this little site for collectors....and get their newsletter...always some humor section...tia.com

this is appropriate for this group.....OMG...I thought I would just bust after reading it......

My father was hungry and opened the fridge to see what was left over.
Overjoyed, he found a dish of cold meatloaf and "woofed" it down.
When he saw my mother later, he complimented on how good her meatloaf was.
"Meatloaf?"
"Yes! In the blue bowl."
"That was the dog food!"
It must run in the family, since I used to share Milk Bones with our Airedale....

Herb,

Thanks for trying to revive the little guy.  I cant even image how heartbreaking that was for you to witness and the young man

Saddest thing Iv seen in a while . I stoped to get gas after work and a 14 year old boy was carrying his young pup accross the parking lot and layed him down by the store. We tryed to revive the pup but he was already dead from heat exhaustion. Very heart breaking. Please dont walk your dogs in this extreme heat and make sure theyb have plenty of water. NEVER NEVER leave them in your vehicle even with the windows down. The pup that died today wasent even a year old. Herb

Dale,

He is a great looking young man and seems to be adapting very well.  That pic at the excavation site is just wonderful.  Everyone waiting their turn!
