Has a knife played a roll in some type happening that was on the harrowing type of experience. Did the knife save the day or even your life? We may all have some sort of story to tell. Well I thought we could tell our stories here and everyone enjoy reading about them. Please don't be shy lets here some stories. Here is another True Knife Adventure!

I have two older Siblings.  My brother Pete is three years older than me. My sister Sue is two years older than me. (Oops, my Half Brother Floyd is about 12 years older than me but I never even met him until my father died, long after the story I'm about to tell!).

Growing up with a brother 3 years older than you, you have a tendency to believe everything he says. For instance when I was in the second or third grade  I came home from school talking about the War Between the States and I called it the “Civil War” My brother corrected me and told me it was the “Silver War”  He said they call it the Silver War  because the North wore blue and the South wore gray and when you mix blue and gray together you get silver.  (And no, he wasn’t just pulling my leg.  He actually thought that!)  I believed him until my father said otherwise.   That should’ve been my first clue not to assume your older brother is always right.

Fast forward about 6-7 years.  My brother is now a high-school Junior and I’m in the 8th grade. My brother has been practicing throwing knives in our kitchen. (dumb Idea!)  He has a cardboard box on the kitchen table and is throwing a steak knife at it.  I’ve watched him do it a couple times and it keeps bouncing out of the box and rattling on the floor.   I make a comment that he doesn’t know how to throw a knife  very good and he is about to answer when he hears my sister coming in the Kitchen door.  As she steps through the door, he throws the knife at her and hits here smack dab in the middle of the chest and the knife bounces to the floor.  It hit handle first   She screams, I scream,  and my brother cracks up laughing!   My sister yells at him that it wasn’t funny and that he could have killed her.

My brother then explains that the balance of the knife is all wrong and that it will always hit the target handle first.  So I pick up the knife and thinking my brother knows everything I decide to toss the knife at the kitchen wall. Instead of bouncing off the wall, the knife goes blade first into the drywall, penetrating a good inch or two.  My sister is about to kill him now. but he laughs and says I did it wrong.  He tells me not to throw it be holding the blade but throw it holding the handle.  So I take the knife out of the wall and then throw it again, this time holding the handle instead of the blade.  I make another hole in the Kitchen wall.

And that was when my brother got a bloody nose from my sister.   The moral of the story is your older brother isn’t always smarter than you and don’t throw a knife at something unless you intend to do it harm!

Oh and when my mom asked how the holes got in the kitchen wall -- my sister said my brother did it!

Hahahahahahahahaha.  A funny story that might not have been so funny if your brother had your throwing ability.

Great story. It also proves the weaker sex is not to be messed with. The worst black eye I ever got was from my cousin. A girl.

I've seen scenes in several movies where someone is about to throw a bowie knife but then at the last minute, changes their grip from tip of blade to gripping the handle and then they show the knife hitting a person in the back of the head, with the handle instead of the blade.  Maybe an expert knife thrower can do that but my experience has been I can get the knife to stick about every second or third throw.  I guess my batting average is about 350.  But that day, I was batting a 1000!

Good stories folks , if I had time I would tell one myself another deer story but alas it's time for an old feller to go to bed .

Please tell us about it when you get back on here.

LOL that was a good one Tobias

Anyone have a Camping, Hunting or Fishing story? Even some Bushcraft would be nice.

This is not my story, but of my friend and fellow IKC member Steve Riordan as told to me in an email the other day- quote from Steve --

The first time I ever saw a push button switchblade.......it was sticking out of my chest! I SWEAR!

( Nasty  Downstairs Bar off State Street in Chicago "My 1st Liberty" 1962 USN ) The 1st knife in my collection and counting. - Steve,  by his own admission has been collectng for 60+ years and has around 1000- Not exactly the way I would go about starting a knife collection, but apparently his first knife accquisition "stuck" with him ~~~ LOL

Wow, that's wild story. Thanks for sharing. Tell us one of yours.
