I just bought a small sun shelter that is about 3ft high and 7 feet long.  No doubt my old bones will give me a little grief as I enter and leave it.

My wife refuses to go camping so we tend to rent a cottage when we head to the lake and we will be doing that next week. Lots of  fishing and hiking in the near future.  This year's destination is Crooked Lake near Dowagiac, Michigan.  We shall see.

The older we get the more little things can make a big difference. When I see something I have experienced that could be better, I must say something. I have a tent for me and one for the kids, that seems to work best for us.

I agree Robert, I did get a "Big Mike" Deer blind that is 80" tall and I can stand up in it and draw a Compound Bow.  But the tent we camped in, I had to crawl in and out of, I would much rather step in and out like you said. LOL We are getting old, I guess.

Robert, my only regret if I wasn't able to scarf up enough kitty litter containers to make another pontoon boat this year!

12 kitty litter containers, six 1 inch PVC pipes, a roll of duct and some spare speaker water. It remained water tight and operational for the entire week while on the lake.  (my plans actually called for 16 containers to support my weight but I had to do with 12. The seat was made out of duct tape and a cut up  foam noodle people use in pools.

It was inspired by those fly fishing pontoons.

Now before you comment, $5 vs $189 The $5 one has 12 separate float chambers. The $189 can be punctured more easily. LOL

Wow, great work. I never thought of that. Real cool.

Well this is summer but still an adventure. We are heading to Grand Ile Louisiana next week. We will be swimming, crabbing and fishing on the beach. I have had good luck fishing there in late summer. We hope to eat a lot of seafood while there. If the shrimp are running, we might even catch some of those in a cast net. I plan on taking a bunch of pictures and will post them here.

Heading up to Channel Lake near Antioch Illinois for the up coming week-end.  Going to try my luck fishing again, primarily off the shoe of Lake Marie.   My other Brother in Law owns a house off the shore..   He also owns an old wooden boat.  Pretty sure is is Chris Craft Cabin Cruiser from the 1950s or 1960s.  Not sure if he'll be taking it out though.

Oh dear!  I just told a lie!  My brother in law sold his Chris Craft some time ago.  The boat he has now is a Century Coronado that dates to around 1975.  I will post pictures after the week-end.  He is going to be taking it out.  This is one awesome boat!

Sounds like a great time, Tobias. Remember, catching small fish is better than catching no fish. I get a boot catching all fish, espespeally catching them on artificial baits. The fact that you fooled them, is really rewarding.

  Good luck Tobias.

Our trip begins tomorrow. I just got a fishing report and they said the crabs are biting good and some fish species are biting good also. Including sharks. We will be after Spek.  Trout, White Trout, Red Fish, Black Drum, Flounder and Sheep Head. I hope the sharks leave us alone.

Robert, you can't beat a good fishing trip. I love to fish the local river in my Kayak for smallmouth. Redeye bass are also fun to catch. One of the side benefits to fishing the river in a Kayak is seeing local wildlife. It is quiet enough to not spook them as you float along.  Good luck on your trip, but in my opinion any time spent outdoors is a good time, fish or no fish.

A bad day fishing is better than a good day at the office!

  Charles, you are so right.
