schrade no respect

my first knife was a old timer my father gave me i have collected them ever sense a lot of people likes to look at my case knives then they will say that one looks nice what kind is it?it looks as nice as the case knives do and i will tell them they are schrade knives and they say i always herd that that was a cheap brand but when they pick them up and look at them and i tell them how nice they are they say i would just assume to have one of these knives and save the money.so my point is tell you put them in your hand and see how well they are built just because you pay less does not necessarily mean the quality is not there they made these knives for many years until they sold out in 2007 and moved but i still love them and still by them...

We mainly set up at knife shows and gub & knife shows, with a small bit of mail order. The MAIN thing that many people didn't like, and I think it was one thing that finally killed them, was Henry Baer refused to put any bone or stag handled knives out. I heard guys say "I won't buy a Schrade because they only use that blankety blank plastic!".

But respect, yes as far as I experienced things.

Albert didn't refuse to use bone. The state on New York started enacting regulations on the disposal of the dye, solvents,etc that made it too costly. Schrade contracted with Rogers Bone Co in Connecticut to supply the bone...sometime in the 50's. Rogers couldn't produce what Schrade needed so Schrade sent them one of their gas heated drying vats. That is what caused the fire and burnt down the Rogers Bone Co. factory. With no one to supply the bone..Schrade went to plastic..Delrin.
