The Chaparral was designed to be the consummate lock-blade gentleman’s pocketknife. Exceptionally thin to keep its weight to a minimum and ensure ease of carry, it features a flat-ground leaf-shaped blade with outstanding edge geometry for near-effortless cutting performance. Its acute point excels at detail work, yet retains the structural strength for all-purpose use. A Trademark Round Hole facilitates easy one or two-handed opening and makes the knife very easy to get into action.
The Chaparral’s highly evolved handle shape balances a full-sized grip and user friendly ergonomics with a slim, easily carried profile that tucks neatly into any pocket. A reliable back lock mechanism ensures that the blade stays securely locked in the open position and, along with a reversible wire pocket clip, makes the knife completely ambidextrous. The low-ride clip not only supports left or right-side tip-up carry, but it also blends unobtrusively with any color of clothing.
In the open position, the juncture of the Chaparral’s blade and handle features a forefinger choil and a subtle thumb ramp on the spine of the blade. Both have jimping (textured grooves) and provide an ideal purchase for the thumb and index finger for superior control during use.

No doubt the Chaparral-Titanium is a well made knife. My first thought which is my last....is this knife is way over priced for the average person looking for an EDC. This knife cost $118.15 USD per ounce. I know 99.999% of LEO (law enforcement officers) would not pay this price for a way too small knife. Now...what does someone else think....Spyde lovers lets hear from you.
I think it,s a good looking knife for sure, but to short of a blade length for my taste & E D C needs.
I much prefer the Larger Spyderco models, like the Military & the Police model.
I,m wanting to get a new Starmate model to try out, love the blade shape.
It is expensive so exactly who is this marketed too?

It is expensive for a production folder. So what market is this aimed at?

Would this still be legal in most states and countries with a longer blade?

Steve good question. I would say hardcore Spyderco lovers with more money then the law should allow. I have paid more for a knife but it was a collector..one of a kind..custom made with superior materials and workmanship. You look in Spydercos web site of the Discontinued designs about 2/3 down on page 7 the discontinued designs start, http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/list.php?porder=l2h&genre=knife...
and continue through page 14 at 30 per page. That is over 180 discontinued designs aka non sellers. I have often wondered why they make what they do as most fail to sell well enough to stay in production. Spyderco makes or has made for them....great knives. The Spyderco Bi-Fold is an example. At first look this auto knife looks neat but once you get one it is very cumbersome to open and really non-functional for those of us who can carry an auto knife. I believe the Bi-Fold will join the Discontinued list soon.

Steve....
In many countries the locking system would set off the alarm bells. I don't know of any State here which would have a problem with this knife unless it would be up in the N.E. like Massachusetts who are real touchy about most knives and all the firearms.

They are putting a Bullseye on my forehead with the size and materials. Plus the fact I have more money than willpower doesn't help.

I had the opportunity to hold it fondle with it for a short period of time and that knife is a work of art so light a robust o man if you have the money go for it if don't buy the regular CF one I want that version for my collection basically it is a shorter sage.Yes and the blade steel is also a winner in my opinion.
I have the Chaparrla 2 (titanium) and love it. LOVE it a lot. For me it's a perfect size knife for my needs. Or before I retired it would have been perfect also. My work was office type even when I was in other people's offices. I went to customer locations and worked on their computer systems. The titanium Chaparral, or the carbon fiber model, is a perfect knife for this environment IMO. It's small enough (3 1/2" closed) to not scare many people (lol) but still strong enough to handle much more than is normally encountered in office environments. Titanium won't rust. That's one less worry. The CTS-XHP steel (stainless) has exceptional edge retention and is easy to put a razor edge on and polish the bevel to a mirror finish if you want to. The manufacturing is so tight that the blade locks solid with no blade play at all. But, holding it horizontal I push the lock button and the blade drops down without a flick. This level of manufacturing accury is hard to beat in my experience. I have my pivot a bit tighter so the blade doesn't just fall looking for a finger to nick. lol Is it worth $180? To me, yes. No, I'm not rich. What anything that you don't need is worth is a personal thing. We get enfatuated on various things. For me it's knives. For others it's small EDC flashlights or watches, any number of things.
If buying a Spyderco Chaparral 2 won't take groceries out of the kid's mouths, get one. :)
