I wonder if there is a way iKC can embed an audio like the videos?  That would be cool

Just checked out Marcs site.  That is cool.  Think I will be there on Thursday :)

Funny the things you think of as you prepare for tropical weather.

1)  Even not getting ready for a direct hit, you face the possibility of days without electric and extreme humidity.  Put our the damp rid buckets

2) Yes I have an icemaker and it needs to be emptied, cleaned and fresh ice in it for a water resource. Take the old ice, bag it and put it in the outside freezer with icecreams and such (also in baggies). Also freeze bottles of water in that freezer. Easier to clean one freezer than 2.  Keeping one closed fulltime is good.

3)  Get extra chlorine and shock in the pool.  It is a resource for bathing if you keep it clean

4) charge up the laptop so you can keep in touch

Robert,

I wonder if it was just the loss of the reputation they worried about

We must remember that TV shows are made for our intertainment. We should learn survival from better places than a TV show. You may learn somethings from the show but not depend on it as your main sorce of information. I got a message from Cody and he confirmed that Dave has been replaced and for reasons of his credibility and that a survival instuctor must be trusted, for peoples lives depend on him/her. He did not say anything bad about Dave. I liked Dave and it's a real shame that he did that because when it boils down to it, his military record had nothing to do with his ability to teach survival tech.

Ok guys and gals...

Here is a web site to make it easy for you who wonder about food.

http://www.wisefoodsupply.com/

Some of this will work out to about $3.50 a meal.  Some more some less.

@Terry I agree with firing him because he falsified his creds.  It does not however mean he doesn't know his stuff; just that he lied about his qualifications.   Just being in the military does not make you an expert in survival.  Being an ex-sailor; I was trained in firefighting, damage control, and water survival, but that is all.  I have not watched Dave, but I would bet that any competent actor could take his place as long as they were taught the technique and given the lines.   Any doubts, watch Morgan Freeman on the Science Channel "Through the Wormhole."

As far as I'm concerned, Dave's credibility is now zero, and that makes everything he says suspect.  Assuming the show's producers confirmed that he had indeed falsified his service record, firing him was the right thing to do.  Serious survival shows are teaching their viewers how to survive in different wilderness conditions.  This is serious stuff!  Unfortunately, the stars of these shows aren't required by law to have any relevant qualifications, as far as I know.  So the information they provide their viewers probably shouldn't be taken on its face value alone.  If you want reliable survival information, you need to verify the credibility of the source.

Clint, I may have to wait for help on the link. My computer skills are low. I thought we would talk over what happened and see what people have to say about it. I liked Dave, as did alot of other people. This is a forum we have here and sometimes we can talk about adult subjects. Questions like, "Did they go too far with his dismissal"...."Did he betray everyones trust"... "We just don't care, we want Dave back"....and so on. I just want to hear peoples opinion.

Robert here is one link....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dual_Survival

Just because it is on Wikipedia does not make it so.  Dave was my favorite of the two.  We will see who they get to replace him.
