Several knife companies are re-introducing old patterns. Do you view these knives as true to the original maker and therefore collectible, like the Case Family Brands, or Great Eastern's Northfield and Tidioute?
And how much different is what these firms are doing than when WR Case acquired the Platts Brand, or any other brand acquired by a firm to produce knives stamped with that brand?
I purchased a Wade & Butcher, clearly marked reproduction, lg cigar whittler from Jim Parker yrs ago. Don't know who he had do them for him ... they did a good job ... nice fit-n-finsh ... nice stag ... good quality ... don't know how accurate a reproduction ...
But ... the chase wasn't there. There was no '"rush" as when I'd found a real Wade & Butcher.
imo ... Case family knives ... early cutlery names stamped on current production knives.
... some reproductions feel good ... some just look good ...
